Photo Series 2
My pictures share more of the past-to-present, showing the old Brightman St. bridge and the new Veteran's Memorial bridge. The picture of the snowy trees is the location where the original Somerset High School, and most of my pictures show the water, emphasizing the impact that the Taunton River had on Somerset. The town had big industries in shipbuilding, shipping, trading, and ferrying, which would be why most of my pictures involve water. Other industries were iron works, farming, and pottery. Photo number 7, the first one of the old bridge, shows history by visually showing an old, crumbling bridge. The bridge is overlooked by most commuters, although for many years it was the only way to cross from Fall River to Somerset without going on 195. Before the bridges, the only way to cross the river was to take the ferry, which was a big industry in the past. Taking the picture, we walked down the path on the side of the bridge to get a cool angle of the bridge from the underside of one end, making the bridge fill all the way across. Photo 8 also shows the bridge, but from a different point of view. This picture instead, shows the Braga Bridge peeking through the opening in the Brightman St. Bridge. This shows both ways across the river. Top line up this shot, we had to walk down the side of the river, almost under the Veteran's Memorial Bridge. The bridges are centered in the picture and with the clear sky and water below really catch your eye.
